We did a dress-rehearsal run of our Paris bike tour yesterday and stopped at the Eiffel Tower to take in the splendor of this beautiful monument and we're surprised to see a lot of construction happening around its base. "What's happening here?" I asked one of the workers. "Is this something you're building for fashion week?" (Note: Fashion week kind of takes over the city, transforming major landmarks into catwalks!). "No, no!" said the fellow. "We're building a bulletproof fence around the Tower!" What?! "You're joking right?" "Not at all! It's really happening!" Oh la la. Quelle surprise!
